3. Why is interdependence fostered in the community? The Giver Blogpost No.1

Question;-

1. Would you want your future to be decided by others ? Why or Why not?

I think I would never want my future to be decided by others becasue it is not fair to have your job controlled by others because you might have choices or jobs that you might want to do. Like for example take Jonas. Jonas has his choices and likings and disliking for his job but if the job is chosen by the community then he might or might not like. To me I believe the thing that "My job my business it is none of your business what i do or chose" I truly believe in this quote because otherwise you cant have your likings/dis likings or any choices. Because just imagine doing a job that you never like. For Example Jonas in chapters 13-18 does not like his job at all because having the pain of memories gives him pain and so, he just doesn't like it. So, to me I believe to choose my own job because it is my job and my business not yours.

The End is Here' POWER OF FREEDOM!!

4. Choose one of the three main characters and write how this character has changed during the course of the novel. Make sure you give at least three or more examples from the book to show how he changed.

I picked Will Parker because I think he changed a lot during the book. At first few chapters of the book I think he showed courage and confidence when he was asked by Mr. Ozymandias to go to the White Mounatins for freedom. I think he changed a bit that time because he was actually weak and scared of running away this proved in the book when he was taking decisions whether to go or not. For Example in the book he said "I lay on my bed and thought what would happen, the great lakes, the sea and all the roads and water we would have to cross upon" This proved that he was a bit scared but later on after he changed his mind and decided to go to the White Mountains only and just for freedom it then showed that he had changed.

Another Example of Will changed was when he showed his braveness when Beanpole and Henry cutted the metal cap out of Will's hand. Will showed great bravery there because getting your arm cut out is excruciatingly painful. ANother Example of Will getting changed was his anger to tripods. I think the anger of Will Parker burst out when the tripod carried him with the tripods tentacles and dropped him off. I think he changed there by throwing out a egg bomb at the tripod. These were the changes I think happened to Will during the book.

Freedom!!

Freedom is very important in peoples lives. Without freedom you cannot make choices or control yourself. I think having no freedom is just like being a slave listening to its masters commands. In chapter 6 (The Castle of the Red Tower) it is very true that Will likes the luxury and all the attention that has been given to him like he likes all the clothes,the people,the room and not but least the great offers that had been offered to him.However upon all this luxury there was one thing which was not in this luxury which was Freedom!!. No matter upon what great luxury there is, there is only one simple question to it and that is" Is there any freedom?" To me Freedom means one who can make choices and thoughts and say and do whatever they want. I think that Freedom is necessary for everyone especially Zhan-pole and Will because Zhan-pole likes to invent things and Will likes to too like for example the watch which man made had fascinated him.

"Was I to abandon my hope of freedom,surrender the mastery of my mind, for the sake of wearing jeweled leather and having other men touch their caps to me?(pg 121)

Before Capping there might be doubts and uncertainties and revulsion' perhaps these people had know them too. When the cap wsa put on the doubts vanished. How great a loss was that? Was it a loss at all?(pg 123)

Watch slipped from his wrist:

I had thought at first that the Cometesse and the others might be curious about I and want to know how a boy had come by such a posession;but they had shown no interest at all in it. They kept no relics of the skill of the ancients,and time meant nothing to them (pg.125)

If Will was capped some of the concerns that would relate to lack of freedom would be that Will would care much less. For example when Elouise became Queen of the Tournaments and needed to go away to serve her master, the tripods she proved that she didn't even care for Will Parker a bit.I think when one is capped the tripods put a satelite or some kind of electronic switch on people so, that tripods can takeover peoples minds and control them not letting people make choices. To me Freedom is such a important thing that upon what great luxury or position you are in it doesn't matter but the freedom sure does.

Will finally decided to leave the castle after Eloise is capped because she didn't care for Will Parker one bit and she was also going away forever to serve the tripods, in the city of tripods. Will also decided to leave the castle because though it had luxury there was no freedom because every single person was capped there. Will also wanted to say when he thought the idea of freedom because he knew that Freedom was more important than the great luxury in the castle.

HOLIDAY BREAK

During the Holiday break I had a great time with my family. I enjoyed it very much.I spent my holiday break in two different nice places.1 place I went to was United States,my home-country where my grandparents were living in Maryland. We first visited my grandparents in Maryland and then decided to go to a place inside United States where it wouldn't be much cold so, we decided to go to Capecod Massachussets where it wouldn't be as cold as Maryland since Maryland was very cold. So, we went to Capecod,Massachussets expecting it wouldn't be cold as Maryland so, we drove to Capecod. As we expected it would be a bit warm than Maryland rather it was cold like Maryland. So, we decided to go to the beach the next morning. That night we stayed in a really cool hotel which was on top of the Atlantic Ocean so, that's why we had to park our car in the mainland and then come to the hotel. The next morning when we went to the beach we had lots of fun we made sand castles and relaxed we spent our whole day at the beach the next day it was time to go so, we drove to New York and then went back to Kuala Lumpur,Malaysia. When we arrived home our vaction still wasn't over. The next day we planned to go to Phucket near Thailand and then to Penang. We stayed in Penang for five days and in Phucket for 6 days. So in total we spent eleven days out of Kuala Lumpur and the next day we went to back to Kuala Lumpur and went back to our old life at KL. The next day I went to ISKL. ANd this was my Holiday Break.

Blog Reflection

A skill that i learned was responsibility. I know about it and now that i am in iskl i have learned and improved this skill which means that i am no longer an irresponsible person because these days I can bring my assignments on time and get these assignments completed in time. So, this is a skill that i learned.

I handled a challenge very good by taking it seriously enough to do my work. A skill I want to learn in ISKL is respect. I contributed positively towards the 6th grade community by being honest and having rsponsibility. To me I think honest and responsibility is a very important MS core value because honest helps you to be a better person. And being responsible is also because taking care of your things is very needded.
For the New Year i lok forward to set two more goals which rae respect and kindness. To, do this i need to respect people who are older than me. And to reach a goal for kindness i need to have a kind behaviour and be kind in all ways. Like help people and care for them.
